Updated: Sep 9, 2019

The magic of Ginger!

Did you know this spicy little root has incredible health benefits and has been used for centuries in various forms of alternative and traditional medicines?

This awesome super plant originated from China and can be used in almost all of its forms fresh, dried, juiced you name it! It has been used to help with digestion, nausea, motion sickness, morning sickness, it lowers blood sugar and cholesterol, MENSTRUAL CRAMPS can I get an AMEN?? It has also been purported to be a preventative measure against cancer.

Ginger has so many wonderful benefits to it and is my go to for almost all my ailments. Actually, as I sit here typing this I am sipping on a freshly steeped mug of belly calming bliss. So why is ginger so great? Lets take a closer look at some of the health benefits and you"ll see why I highly recommend stocking your kitchen pharmacy with ginger root.

Ginger helps fight infections!

Fresh ginger has a bioactive substance called Gingerol. This has been noted to inhibit many different oral bacterias that have been linked to inflammatory issues such as gingivitis and periodontitus. It has also been know to help fight certain types of respiratory infections.

Ginger helps with chronic Indigestion and Gerd!

They next time you're experiencing indigestion try steeping yourself a cup of ginger tea instead of downing a bunch of chalky antacids. Ginger has been shown to help the stomach empty faster so the food doesn't just sit there. It helps to reduce gastric contractions as the food moves through the GI tract. It has also been suggested that ginger can be effective in warding off colon cancer and constipation.

Ginger significantly lowers menstrual pain!

I speak from experience here, take my word for it. When I was in high school and completely unaware that a magical root called ginger existed, I was saddled with debilitating menstrual cramps once a month. They were so bad I had no option but to stay home from school and down the "extra strength over the counter whatever you call its". It was a horrible. Thankfully in my adulthood I no longer need to rely on such methods for pain relief. Now at the first signs of pain I'm steeping ginger tea! It has been a God sent! It's those fancy gingerols that help to shut off the pain causing compounds in the body and bring much needed relief. I am amazed at how quickly it works too. Literally when the warm liquid hits my stomach the pain begins to ease. I highly suggest you try it. Not only does it help the pain but its comforting when all you want to do is curl up in a blanket on the couch.

Ginger treats Nausea and Morning Sickness!

Finding relief from morning sickness can be a huge issue for some women but studies have found one of the most popular and effective remedies for morning sickness is ... you guessed it...GINGER! After a few days of use women experiencing morning sickness have reported a significant reduction in their symptoms. Ginger also has long been used as a popular remedy for motion sickness. Specifically sea sickness. It has been prescribed for nausea and vomiting after surgical procedures and may help reduce the nausea that cancer patients experience during chemotherapy.

Ginger can help your brain!

Alzheimer's is a chronic neurodegenerative disease that starts slowly and tends to worsen over time and can interfere with thinking, memory and behavior. Studies have found that the antioxidants and bioactive compounds found in ginger can actually inhibit the inflammatory reaction in the brain. It has also been discovered that ginger can directly promote brain function in essence making it BRAIN FOOD! I don't know about you but I find that fascinating.

These are just a small listing of the amazing health benefits of the ginger root. It is well worth your time and money to stock your pantry with a bunch of ginger instead of over the counter drugs. As with any homeopathic remedy if your symptoms have not improved or worsen go see your primary care physician.

So go ahead and give ginger a chance. It has so many wonderful benefits and one of the best natural medicinal remedies around.
